My love for photography started a long time ago when I was in the U.S. Air Force. I enjoyed three overseas assignments in a row, lasting for a little over six years. I bought a Minolta SLR camera and started snapping away at pretty much anything that got in the way! That was more than 40 years ago, and I still have many of those photos.
After getting married and the kids came along, I found that film and prints were no longer in the budget, so I sold my camera to my brother-in-law and went for a lot of years just using throw-aways and point-and-shoot cameras. But I still loved photography, read books, and was enthralled with folks like Ansel Adams. Black and white photos are still my favorites.
Recently someone asked me what I like to shoot. I replied, "Anything that moves or doesn't!" That's really true. I love landscapes, but I also love taking photos of people. If I had the time, I think I would become a street photographer. The candid moment is my favorite.
I also enjoy the "artsyfied" photo. That's what I call the ones that I run through PhotoShop, especially some plug-ins, that enable me to create not just a photo, but something unique and out of the ordinary.
I enjoy connecting with other photographers here on the Mississippi coast. I've made some great friends, and a lot of them have helped me stretch my skills, try new things, and branch out into new areas. Plus I get the chance to share some things I've learned. I love seeing others learn how to do something new.
