My name is Kim Devon Herndon and I was born in Baton Rouge, La and moved to the coast at age 14. I have been honing my photography skills all of my adult life and adapting to the multiple facets of photography in the digital era. I enjoy living near the water because of the endless recreational and numerous photographic occasions that it offers. The Gulf Coast offers a plethora of good chances for photographers with the unique landscapes, aquatic animals, birds and so much more. I am especially drawn to black and white photography and appreciate the artistic and timelessness of black and white photographs. Capturing an image that asks a question or stirs the imagination is what motivates me to continue to pursue black and white photography.
Additionally I also enjoy photographing on the streets of New Orleans, which offers endless photographic opportunities. The architecture, street musicians, and people from all walks of life provide endless photographic moments.
I am blessed to have five fantastic children and two grandchildren. They have been my subjects over the years, sometimes willing sometimes not, but have given me plenty of practice.
I am also a Project Manager for a large construction company on the Gulf Coast. Because of my passion for architecture, I understand the complexities and the craftsmanship that is required to construct such buildings. Therefore, I’m drawn to photograph these structures that will stand the test of time.
Lastly photography has made me more mindful of my surroundings, appreciation of nature, people and the exceptional beauty in the world.
