Maggie Vlazny is a digital artist, photographer, and writer, born in New Jersey, USA. She studied art and literature at The College of New Rochelle, where she earned her BA in the Liberal Arts. Always a creative, she spent her early years focused on her writing, which has been published in various local newspapers and magazines. She also wrote and presented a six part mental health series for Monroe Cable Television.
In 2010 she was given a camera for Christmas, falling passionately in love with photography as well as the endless possibilities of digital art. By 2012 two of her artworks were accepted into competitive, juried exhibits: 'Fading' by the Pocono Arts Council, and 'Pink Memories' by Together Arts. Currently her award winning artwork 'Green Mystery Montage' is on exhibit by the Pocono Arts Council at the Art Space in East Stroudsburg, PA. In late summer 2014, The Forwardian Literary Magazine will be publishing her image "Faux Vintage Flowers" . Influenced by the conceptual art movement, Maggie specializes in creating abstract and montage images. But unlike her historical predecessors, whose emphasis was on the message rather than the art itself, she prefers that they be attractive as well. She also enjoys creating or capturing nature scenes for their sheer beauty, evidence of God as the ultimate Artist.
In addition to her career in the visual arts, she is also a psychotherapist who firmly believes that if you don't spend some part of your life living (or seeking) your passion then you're not really living at all. A Christian, she sees herself as God’s conduit for her visual art and writing.
