I paint almost exclusively in acrylic on a variety of surfaces, employing a selection of non-traditional painting tools – many of which I make myself – to achieve tone, texture, scale, substance … and surprise. My technique is primarily spontaneous – where action painting merges with the disciplines of calligraphy and archeology to create art that I hope is contemplative, contemporary and uncontrived.
As a photographer, I enjoy giving strong voice to the unobserved, overlooked and unappreciated -- the imperfect, impermanent, incomplete, and unconventional. I'm constantly looking beneath, behind and around the corner. And I'm not above using the latest digital tools to push a concept into the realm of the surreal. But for all the theorizing, formal and conceptual notions, the truth of the matter is that I just love to shoot.
I've exhibited extensively and I'm thankful my work has found a home among international collectors. I'm also proud to be one of only 44 international artists featured in Aleatoric Art in the 21st Century. At 240 pages, this coffee table-sized book is the definitive volume on the role of chance in contemporary fine art.
